Supporting Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

At Staplecross MC Primary School, we are committed to providing an inclusive and supportive environment for all our pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We work closely with families to ensure that every child can thrive, achieve their full potential, and feel valued as part of our school community.

SEND stands for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. A child or young person has SEND if they have a learning difficulty or disability that requires special educational provision different from or additional to what is normally available to pupils of the same age.

Children may need help in one or more of the following areas:

  • Communication and interaction
  • Cognition and learning
  • Social, emotional, and mental health
  • Sensory and/or physical needsOur Approach to SEND

We follow the guidance set out in the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and are committed to:

  • Early identification of needs
  • High-quality teaching for all
  • A graduated approach to support
  • Working in partnership with families
  • Regular review of progress and provision
